Jessica + Rob

    We had so much fun with this funny couple!  And they're lawyers!  Bouncing around downtown Lexington was fun, and I even learned a few things, you know, legal stuff.

Thanks Jessica and Rob!

Photo Safari :: HWY 62 KY

Photo Safari, Landscape, Abandoned, Burned, Tuckaway

     ^ Tuckaway ^

     The lastest installment of Photo Safari, a place called "Tuckaway" and a burned out house.  Most of the time when we take road trips we try to stay off the limited access freeways, and stick to two-lane highways.  It takes A LOT longer to get where we're going, but its always worth it.  These are some images we made while traveling between Lexington, KY, and Paducah, Ky, on Hwy 62.  They're pretty processed, which is not our normal schtick, just thought these particular images felt a little like paintings.  I dunno, you guys can decide.  Enjoy!

Juniper Hills Golf Course

Juniper Hills, Golf Course, Magazine, Frankfort, Kentucky

     Bryan Vice, superintendent at Juniper Hills Golf Course in Frankfort, Ky has recently written an article for publishing in Golf Trade Magazine.  Currently, under Bryan's supervision, the course is undergoing several renovations, which Bryan plans to have completed in the spring of 2011.  After having seen them, I'd say they will most certainly enhance the play on this course.  (and I might know, I spent my late teenage years, and early 20's working on golf courses.)  I'm going back there to photograph the course again in the spring once the renovations are complete.  Until then, go check it out.

Rachel + Max :: KY Bride Magazine

Roses, Cake Toppers, Bourbon

We are super excited for one of our favorite weddings to be featured in the Summer Issue of Kentucky Bride Magazine!

We had so much fun photographing Rachel and Max at their fabulous wedding. The reception was truly breathtaking. The band, the dancing, food and drinks, (and bourbon), the beautifully decorated ballroom, it was the complete package.

Thanks again to all that were involved in that wonderful day!

To read the story, and see more, get it on stands, and check out previews online at:

Photo Safari :: West Virginia

Abandoned House

^ "Double Stack House" ^

Photo Safari Entry 2: West Virginia

   It shouldn't take long to figure out that A LOT of our Photo Safari work is abandoned places and things.  We really enjoy shooting this stuff for many reasons.  Some of them are:  It's endlessly fascinating to see what people have left behind. Things that may have transpired there are always open to our imaginations, and interpretation.  We don't get bothered by other people much, nobody in the way, or rushing us, or asking questions, we're all alone. AND  It's usually trespassing, so that's exciting.

These are a couple of the many interesting things we found while traveling for a job in West Virginia.  Enjoy!

Photo-Safari :: Roller Skate Skinny

Roller Skate Skinny Photo Safari

     An introduction to "Photo-Safari":

  This is a term that we learned from one of our professors at U.K..  Its an adventure to serve one purpose, "go find a lion", or some photographs, as it were.  We take frequent "Photo-Safaris"  Constantly on the search for the next great interesting thing to photograph.  We are driven to it, and drawn by it.  This is how we share our lives, where we've been, what we've seen, and how we've seen them.  Look for many, many, more of these to come.

We titled this photo "Roller Skate Skinny" after a song by The Old 97's. Great driving music is the key to a successful "Photo-Safari"

Underwater Beauty

  For this blog post I thought I would just share a few photos from a recent visit to the aquarium.  These creatures are just so interesting to me.  I would really enjoy learning more about them. ~A

Ferdinand's Ball

Ferdinand's Ball

    We really couldn't think of a better way to start our blog than this.  Ferdinand's Ball is an annual event that serves as a fundraiser for the care of retired racehorses.  Racehorses that without this special care, would certainly suffer unspeakable atrocities against them.  For more information on this wonderful event please visit Ferdinand's Ball.

  Meet Aimee Wulfeck and Kim Boyle.  These two sisters are the organizers of Ferdinand's Ball.

  It was a great pleasure to meet them, and have the opportunity to witness their interactions with these magnificent horses.

    These horses are kept and cared for at a farm called Old Friends Farm, located near Georgetown, KY.  For more information: www.oldfriendsequine.org Please visit them in person too!

   I also witnessed a horse being fitted for its shoes.  This is such a great example of the type of care the horses get at Old Friends.  This particular horse has a problem with its hooves, and needs special shoes.  Since these shoes are expensive, and the horse is retired, if it weren't for Old Friends and their contributors, this horse would be "put down".

     Please consider attending this event to support these animals!  You can also go to Old Friends and take one of their daily tours and visit these beautiful horses in person.
